Stranraer missed the chance to move into third in the Third Division table as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Montrose.
Daryl Nicol put the hosts ahead in the 12th minute, converting from the penalty spot after Armand One had handled.
And the Gable Endies doubled their advantage two minutes later as Dougie Cameron coolly slotted home from the edge of the box.
Stranraer were nearly back in it just before the break, but Ramiro Gonzalez saved smartly from Ryan Kennedy's free-kick.
They did pull a goal back nine minutes into the second half when Stuart McColm calmly converted Sean Winter's inside pass from close range.
But Montrose restored their two-goal lead 10 minutes later, with Nicol grabbing his second with an impressive 20-yard strike into the top left-hand corner.
The visitors halved the deficit again in the 73rd minute as Declan Gallagher met Steven Noble's cross with a powerful downward header, but they could not find an equaliser.
